Kasalan sa Jonelta: Celebrating Love and Marital Union

The “Kasalan sa Jonelta” is an annual civil mass wedding organized by the DALTA Jonelta Foundation Inc. (DJFI) and the University of Perpetual Help Medical Center (UPHMC) in Las Piñas. This meaningful tradition aims to help couples who have lived together without a formal marriage secure their legal marital status—granting them the rights and privileges afforded to married couples under Philippine law, including property ownership, inheritance, and access to government benefits. As one of DJFI’s flagship advocacies, the event highlights the importance of marital union, family stability, and community solidarity. It extends free access to a solemn and dignified wedding ceremony for bona fide members of the foundation, allowing them to celebrate their love within a supportive and faith-centered community. This year’s beneficiaries were Mr. & Mrs. John Arbee Balderama and Mr. & Mrs. Romano Morales Taruc, who exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony officiated by Rev. Marvin Lachica. Surrounded by family, friends, and witnesses, the couples were united not only in love but also in faith and commitment. Livening up the celebration, Mr. & Mrs. Bennyl U. Ramos, Head of the Community Extension Services of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA–Molino Campus, delivered a jaw-dropping inspirational message emphasizing the penultimate foundation of a long and lasting marriage—rooted in “Panalangin, Pagpili, Pagtanggap, Pananagutan, Pangako o Panunumpa, Pagsunod, Pagdiriwang, Pag-alala, Pag-uusap, at Pakikisama.” These, he shared, are the essential ingredients or building blocks to building a love that endures through time. True to its mission as ‘Helpers of God’, the “Kasalan sa Jonelta” reflects the DJFI’s continuous desire “to empower communities, and uplifting the quality of life of its members, through strategic and sustainable corporate social responsibility with social impact”, anchored on compassion, service excellence, and perpetuating the Tamayo Legacy.
